Audits and compliance

Know where you stand before anyone else checks.

Internal and second-party audits of your systems, suppliers and claims. Findings you can close, ranked in the order that matters to your business.

Honest findings. Clear priorities. No surprises.

An auditor reviews a certificate and a compliance checklist at a desk, next to a laptop with a data sheet.

Impartiality first

We audit to help you improve. Accredited bodies certify.

Internal audits and certification audits are always kept separate. That protects your certificate, and it protects our independence.

Who does what

  • Green Partner Internal and second-party audits, readiness reviews and support to close the findings.
  • Accredited certification body The certification audit and the certificate itself.
  • Your team The corrective actions, with our help if you want it.

Audits we carry out

From a single check to a yearly programme.

Internal audit

You feel something in your hotel is not working, but you do not know exactly what. We audit your system against the standard or scheme and find out.

Supplier audit

You have doubts about what a supplier claims about sustainability. We audit the supplier and tell you whether the claim holds up.

Readiness review

Before the certification audit, we check your hotel against every criterion so the auditor finds no surprises.

Periodic internal audits

Keep us on track: a fixed audit calendar that keeps your system alive between certification visits.

Legal compliance check

The environmental and consumer rules that apply to your hotel, and whether you can show you meet them.

Claims that hold up

Every environmental claim needs evidence behind it.

Since 27 September 2026, EU consumer law bans generic environmental claims such as “eco-friendly” or “green” unless you can show recognised excellent environmental performance. It also bans sustainability labels that are not based on a certification scheme or set by public authorities.

These rules come from Directive (EU) 2024/825, which amends the Unfair Commercial Practices Directive. The separate Green Claims Directive proposed in 2023 has not been adopted.

We review what you say about sustainability and tell you what to keep, what to prove and what to remove.

What we review

  • Website, booking-channel and brochure texts
  • Labels, logos and certificates on site and in rooms
  • Amenity and supplier claims you pass on to guests
  • The scope and validity of your certificates
  • An evidence file for every claim you keep

Before you trust a label

Five checks for any green hotel certification.

Some green hotel programmes look, sound and even feel like certification, but they are not. If any of these points cannot be clarified with concrete evidence, your hotel needs to act before its image suffers.

  1. The accreditation bodyCheck that the body accrediting your certification body is a member of the International Accreditation Forum (IAF). Ask your certification body who accredits it.
  2. The certification bodyCheck that the accreditation body lists the certification body that audits you, for that scheme. You will find it on the IAF website or the accreditation body of your country.
  3. The auditorMake sure the auditor is competent, qualified and officially appointed by an accredited certification body.
  4. The consultantVerify that your consultant is independent of the certification process, without any conflict of interest.
  5. The scoringCheck that your certification programme does not rely on aggregated scoring.

Questions about audits

What hotels ask before an audit.

Is greenwashing against the law?

Misleading environmental claims are an unfair commercial practice under EU consumer law. Since 27 September 2026 the rules are explicit: generic claims and sustainability labels that do not meet the conditions of Directive (EU) 2024/825 are banned, and national authorities enforce them.

What do we get after an internal audit?

A list of findings ranked by risk and cost, an action plan with owners and dates, and a follow-up to close them.

Can you audit our suppliers?

Yes. A second-party audit checks what a supplier claims about its products or services, on site or through documents, so you can decide whether to keep passing those claims on to your guests.

Can you also certify us?

No, and that is deliberate. Internal audits and certification audits are always kept separate, to protect impartiality. We prepare you for certification; accredited bodies certify.
