ISO 45001: a safe hotel is a well-run hotel.

ISO 45001 is the international standard for occupational health and safety management systems. It replaced OHSAS 18001 and helps you prevent injuries and ill health at work before they happen.

What the standard covers

Safety your team can count on.

ISO 45001 sets the requirements for an occupational health and safety management system: your hazards, your risks, your legal obligations and how your people take part.

In a hotel, the risks sit in daily work: hot surfaces and knives in the kitchen, chemicals and heavy lifting in housekeeping, plant rooms and work at height in engineering, wet floors and pool plant in the spa. The standard asks you to identify those hazards, assess the risks and control them, with your team involved, not just informed.

Fewer incidents mean fewer absences, steadier shifts and a team that stays. That is the business case, before any certificate.

It follows the same high-level structure as ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 50001, so it fits into one management system instead of adding a separate safety file.

A note on certification

ISO 45001 does not replace your legal duties on health and safety at work. It helps you meet them systematically and show that you do. The certification decision is taken by an independent certification body.

How we implement it

Four steps to a system that works.

The same method we use for every standard: first understand, then improve, only then invest.

  1. Readiness reviewWhere your organisation stands against the requirements of ISO 45001.
  2. Plan and documentationThe procedures, records and responsibilities the standard asks for, and nothing more.
  3. Training and implementationYour team learns why each requirement matters and how to keep it running.
  4. Internal auditWe audit before the certification body does.

If you need more explanation or context, feel free to ask.
