EU Ecolabel

For hoteliers, the real value extends beyond obtaining a label.

Reducing energy consumption, controlling water use, preventing waste and improving operational efficiency can directly contribute to lower operating costs and stronger environmental performance.

The EU Ecolabel is the European Union’s official voluntary environmental label, established under Regulation (EC) No 66/2010. For hotels and tourist accommodation, it provides a recognised framework for reducing environmental impacts through effective resource management, operational controls and responsible purchasing.

At Green Partner, we believe that certification should follow operational improvement, not the other way around.

Our hotel-focused approach begins with understanding your property’s existing performance. We establish a reliable baseline, identify practical improvements and implement the management procedures and technical measures necessary to meet the applicable EU Ecolabel criteria.

How we help

How Green Partner supports your EU Ecolabel certification

Energy efficiency

Review HVAC systems, lighting, heating, cooling, equipment operation and energy consumption to identify practical savings.

Water management

Assess guestroom water fixtures, laundry operations, kitchens, irrigation and consumption monitoring.

Waste prevention and circularity

Improve waste segregation, food waste prevention, procurement practices and the management of disposable products.

Environmental governance

Develop the environmental policy, action programme, departmental responsibilities, staff training and internal monitoring procedures.

Legal compliance and certification preparation

Review applicable environmental obligations, compile supporting documentation and prepare the hotel for assessment by the designated competent body.

Why the EU Ecolabel

Why choose the EU Ecolabel?

The EU Ecolabel offers hotels an official European environmental label supported by publicly available criteria and a formal assessment and verification process.

For tourist accommodation, the requirements address environmental management, energy and water efficiency, waste prevention and other operational impacts.

Certification requires compliance with mandatory criteria and the applicable minimum points from optional criteria. The current tourist accommodation criteria are valid until 31 December 2027, with a revision under way.

Our approach

From environmental compliance to competitive advantage.

Green Partner helps hotels approach EU Ecolabel certification as an operational improvement programme.

We identify where resources are being wasted, prioritise actions that require little or no capital investment and develop a financially justified improvement plan for measures requiring CAPEX.

The result is a hotel better equipped to control operating costs, monitor environmental performance and demonstrate compliance with the EU Ecolabel requirements.
